It used to be a holiday cottage, now it’s the family ‘cottage’ of a well-known Dutch photographer Anouk de Kleermaeker and her family, and of course their dog. The house lays in the dunes near Zandvoort aan Zee. It is built in the style of The Amsterdamse School. From the inside the house is completely renovated and adapted to the present. The original small rooms are formed together to one great space where the kitchen and the living room meet.
It’s a wonderful family cottage. Anouk makes a living from being a photographer and works for all kinds of magazines. She mainly shoots portraits, interiors and DIY projects. “Because of my work I keep getting inspired by new trends and ideas. Our house changes with us and the trends along. Every once in a while I have a habit of changing everything. I also tend to use my house as a base for my photoshoots”, explains Anouk. Downstairs is one big open space. When you come in through the hall left is the kitchen and on your right is the living room. There aren’t any doors, everything is open.
Plants and other greens are everywhere. Plants are a source of oxygen and calmness. “Sometimes I save plants that are almost dead and found by me on the street. With a big pot, fresh soil and good nutrition they almost always survive”, says Anouk.
